Wow this is very dope. It makes me want to know more about this man, and who exactly he is. Why he is even. I loved the dialogue here. It came out naturally, especially if you’ve read McCarthy. And as always your writing on religious themes always kills. The way you frame religion as well and how this being is older than time.
This is cool! your vocabulary reminds me of Lovecraft. not in it all, just mainly using older words. like he would use gibbous and eldritch so much haha. not a bad thing though! I wish my vocabulary was better in my work.
my biggest criticism is the beginning feeling to long and the crux of what is happening at the end feeling to short. if they where flipped in ratio, just slightly we would have a certified banger. amazing job homie!
This story was picked for a shout-out in my podcast this week! I really enjoyed this; the writing style is very unique, and the imagery is absolutely superb. The line about the eyes being "wet coals," for example, was brilliant!

Probably one of the best imitations of McCarthy's style I've read. And yet Blace's voice remained present.
Excellent atmosphere, and very unnerving symbolism with the owl!!
Thank you! Owls for me have always carried this foreboding antiquity, like they were there at the being and they know how it will all end.

Lovecraft was who inspired me to start writing, I guess his influence still lingers a bit.
I was thinking the pacing was off too after rereading it the other day.
Thank you for reading it!
No worries! and we share that in common about Lovecraft.
