Green Birds
Maple keys were on the ground.
Tiny green birds.
Infants anchored to the trees,
and beaks search
for worms of slate.
Tearful jerking of the leaves,
Ended on a green lark’s wing

An interesting way of associating the human life and the human condition with the profound, almost strangling sensation of nature. I love the connection created in this piece, or at least that is what it evoked in me through my own poetic logic. It feels like nature becomes more than a landscape: it becomes a reflection of something deeply human.
In the end, we are all animals, with purpose ordained from a higher power.
Through the brutality we must steward for those who cannot. Great piece.
